Creating Your Future Job Rockhampton
Creating Your Future Job Rockhampton is a 5 week self-employment program for local youth aged 15 to 18 years living in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. During the program, participants will identify a local problem, brainstorm a micro-business solution and work towards making an income through self-employment.
The program has been made free for all students thanks to support from SmartHub Rockhampton, Rockhampton Regional Council, the Queensland Government, ACS (Australian Computing Society), NBN Co and CQU University.
The Program
5 weeks of in-person delivery in Term 3, 2022
12 months of alumni engagement support
Up to 75 young people per cohort
Target Cohort
15 to 18 year old youth
Young people who are enrolled in school but are disengaged or at real risk of becoming disengaged
Young people who are not in education or employment
Outcome
51 percent of participants start a real, income generating micro-business.
95 percent of participants increase their workplace skills and capacity including financial literacy and soft skills.
